Introducing Online Educator Training

Children First Training - Early Childhood Educator online training

Our online Educator training allows Early Childhood Educators and OOSH providers to upgrade their skills and attend training from anywhere in Australia!

When COVID-19 threw us all into lockdowns and social distancing in 2020, Children First Training had to make fast changes to keep supporting our essential workers in the Early Education and Care sector. We sprung into action and began offering Educator training online on March 24th, to replace the face-to-face workshops we had booked and scheduled for the year.

While it had always been the plan to introduce online training, this came a little earlier than scheduled. Our Trainers, Margaret and Kirralea reworked their training sessions to engage Educators in online learning. Nancy was busy getting in touch with all our partner facilitators to ensure they could provide their sessions online, too. Each and every team member, facilitator and most importantly – participants, took this exciting new change in their stride, working collaboratively as all good Educators do!

As Margaret reflects on this time, she remembers that her first webinar was, funnily enough, Critical Reflection. The quick change over to webinars meant that she had to work quickly to adapt to the new format. Although seasoned in presenting to many people, the prospect of being on camera for her first webinar had Margaret too nervous to show her face on camera, so she presented the session using only her voice and the training slides! But she warmed up to it, and now much prefers to show her face to personalise the experience and engage with participants, just as she would with face-to-face training.

12 months later, Children First Training have provided over 70 webinars. Online training has allowed us to offer over 50% more sessions than the year before.

One of the things we enjoy the most about online Educator training is reaching participants from all over Australia and even overseas. Inspiring and connecting with people in this industry who are passionate about learning, improving and upgrading their skills, is what we’re all about. So, we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming training session soon!

At the end of the year, we reflected on this time of change by creating a video for your enjoyment. Anyone who knows us, knows we like a little fun and to bring life into everything we do. Enjoy!

A funny look back at what 2020 threw at us when COVID-19 threw us all into lockdowns and social distancing.
