Our Children First Plumpton Long Day Care & Preschool welcomed the Sunrise Weather team and Sam Mac into our home, taking on the role as an Early Childhood Educator for the morning.
The visit was part of a Sydney-wide job search, where Sam Mac assumed the role of a variety of different occupations, hoping to get ‘hired.’
It was an early start for all involved, our children, although a little camera shy to begin with, quickly warmed and we saw some budding stars. Our cash calves won the hearts of many viewers, with more than 1260 likes on @sunriseon7 Instagram page.
Sam Mac and his team quickly bonded with all the children, engaging in a range of play-based activities such as painting, music and even created his own story time book.
During an interview with Fairfax’s St Marys Star, Sam Mac said “Today was one of my favourite days this week. I related to the kids, they are such a happy, creative group. I admire the work these staff members do. Kids go through the whole gamut of emotions, but it’s a rewarding job.”
At the end of the broadcast, our Centre Manager Angela Marakovic said “yes” to hiring Sam Mac. “The early childhood industry needs more males as they bring a different dynamic, and he had a great bond with all the children.”
