About Familylinks

Familylinks is a free program supporting children, families, and the wider Mount Druitt (postcode 2770) community through inclusive, evidence-based playgroups and parenting support. We provide a welcoming, culturally safe space where children aged 0–6 can grow through play, and parents and carers can gain tools, information, and support to help their families thrive. Our programs are completely free and designed to build children’s confidence and skills while strengthening family connections.

Free Playgroups

Our supported playgroups are held in local primary schools and community centres and are led by early childhood-trained educators. Children can explore, play, and learn in a safe and engaging environment, while parents and carers connect with each other and support staff.

Some sessions may also include components from popular evidence-based early childhood and parenting programs to enrich the experience for families.

These may include:

  • Sing & Grow: Music-based activities that support your child’s development.
  • Parent-Child Mother Goose: Rhymes and storytelling to encourage bonding and language development.
  • DRUMBEAT: Rhythmic activities to foster emotional and social learning.
  • PALS Social Skills: Interactive play to develop resilience and social skills.

These activities are adapted to suit the group and are designed to make sessions fun, interactive, and developmentally supportive.

Free Parenting Programs

Our parenting programs are designed to support, educate, and empower you on your parenting journey. Whether you’re building routines, managing behaviour, or supporting a shy or anxious child, we’re here to help you feel more confident and connected. We offer a range of evidence-based parenting programs, and what’s offered may vary each term based on local needs and interests.

Some of our regular programs include:

  • Circle of Security: Strengthening the parent-child bond.
  • 1-2-3 Magic: Effective behaviour management techniques.
  • Bringing Up Great Kids:  Mindful parenting strategies.
  • Bringing up Great Kids for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families: Building positive parent and child relationships, and connection to community.
  • Parents as Teachers (PAT): Supporting child development and family well-being.
  • Cool Little Kids: Helping parents of shy or anxious children.
  • Rhythm 2 Recovery: Personal growth through rhythm and music.
