We don’t usually comment on politics. But this election, the stakes are simply too high to stay silent. That’s why we’re calling on governments, no matter who wins, to back not-for-profit, community-led services that put children before profit.
Fundraising Initiative – Children First – Blacktown Road Children’s Centre
We’re kicking off a new fundraising initiative at Children First – Blacktown Road Children’s Centre, and it’s being led by our Oollburra (preschool) Room!
Help Us Reach Our $1,000 Goal with Return and Earn!
Our preschool room is on a mission to raise $1,000 by 31 October 2025 to purchase new outdoor play equipment. The children have big ideas, like shiny new bikes and fun mini trampolines!
Last year, our preschoolers ran a Return and Earn campaign and hosted a lemonade stand, raising enough money to buy a brand-new cubby house!
Learning Through Action
To support their learning, our preschoolers even created their own poster to promote the campaign to encourage everyone to donate! You might spot their artwork proudly displayed around the centre.
This project is about so much more than fundraising. It’s a meaningful, hands-on learning experience where children are exploring:
- 🌱 Sustainability and recycling
- 💰 Money, saving, and fundraising
- 🤝 Teamwork and goal-setting
We also run fun and educational incursions, such as visits from Recycleman, to deepen children’s understanding of recycling and how it connects to real-world ideas like earning, saving, and making a difference.
How to Donate Your Bottles and Cans
We’re asking our families and community to support our preschoolers by donating eligible drink containers in any of the following ways:
- Bring Containers to the Centre
Drop off your bottles and cans directly to us at Blacktown Road Children’s Centre, we’ll return them for you! - Use the Return and Earn App

🔍 Find ‘Children First’ under the Charities section
✅ Set us as your payout and scan the app when returning containers
✔️ Press TRANSFER after returning to donate your refund
- Donate at an Automated Depot
Check with your nearest Return and Earn depot to see if they support donations, then ask to donate your refund to Children First.
